I read an interesting article today about Orangeburg County (South Carolina) regarding "Character Education."
They had a group, including, their Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Revitalization Association, and their County Development Commission and The Times and Democrat that started a "Community of Character."
Wow, that is a lot of groups to focus on character!
This started back in 2000. They had their first conference in 2005.
The article claims that character education is a fast-growing movement in schools.
I'm very pleased to hear about this wonderful plan to help teach virtues and character values that children need so much today.

And if you haven't done so already, get your copy of my children's book, "Building Character with Sam, Izzy, & Many Other Dogs: 15 Tips to Help Teach Children Character." It uses pictures of cute dogs (and some cats) to teach character values including: acceptance of others, making a compromise, having empathy for others, being a good listner, being a good team-player, and so many more.
